Vow of Silence Melyinda Price

Description:

A killer is hiding in plain sight…

The last thing Homicide Detective Josiah Troyer wants is to return to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and his Amish roots. But a madman is killing young girls and Josiah’s expertise with the tight-knit community is very much needed by the FBI. Unfortunately, going home means dealing with his past and the woman he left behind.

Hannah is desperately trying to rebuild her life after the death of her Amish husband, and now, the murder of her sister. Protecting her young son from the violence is her only goal––and then she runs into the last man she expected to see, her ex Josiah. He left her eight years ago to work with the Englishers and forgiving him hasn’t been easy.

But the killer has Hannah in his crosshairs, and she and Josiah will have to work together if she’s going to survive.

My thoughts on the book:

This is the first book I have ever read from this author, due to this I am not familiar with this authors writings or other books. I did assume because this was an amish book this was a christian book, so that being said that was my fault for assuming, so this is my review for this book. This is NOT a Christian book. It’s starts off very sick and twisted. There is a lot of cursing through out. There is a lot of sex, so if you are looking for a good wholesome story this is not for you. That being said this story will have you guessing throughout the author keeps taking you down “rabbit” holes making you think one thing only to throw another in there and have you thinking another way. She literally has you guessing until almost the end. My heart broke for Eli and the loss he faced and the struggles he faced at such a young age, but I loved how Hannah and Joe had away of making him feel loved and wanted not with words but with actions in times when he was scared. Without giving anything away, Mills is a big part in the story but I seriously felt like I wanted to find him in real life and punch him he was so annoying. This book definitely has a ton suspense and leaves you on the edge of your seat if that’s what you are looking for, then this book won’t disappoint you there. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Sunset Beach Mary Kay Andrews

Description:

Drue Campbell’s life is adrift. Out of a job and down on her luck, life doesn’t seem to be getting any better when her estranged father, Brice Campbell, a flamboyant personal injury attorney, shows up at her mother’s funeral after a twenty-year absence. Worse, he’s remarried – to Drue’s eighth grade frenemy, Wendy, now his office manager. And they’re offering her a job.

It seems like the job from hell, but the offer is sweetened by the news of her inheritance – her grandparents’ beach bungalow in the sleepy town of Sunset Beach, a charming but storm-damaged eyesore now surrounded by waterfront McMansions.

With no other prospects, Drue begrudgingly joins the firm, spending her days screening out the grifters whose phone calls flood the law office. Working with Wendy is no picnic either. But when a suspicious death at an exclusive beach resort nearby exposes possible corruption at her father’s firm, she goes from unwilling cubicle rat to unwitting investigator, and is drawn into a case that may – or may not – involve her father. With an office romance building, a decades-old missing persons case re-opened, and a cottage in rehab, one thing is for sure at Sunset Beach: there’s a storm on the horizon.

Sunset Beach is a compelling ride, full of Mary Kay Andrews’ signature wit, heart, and charm.

My thoughts on the book:

This book is not a love story. Drue stumbles onto a cold case and sets out to solve it against the wishes of others. The story starts off casually but this when it starts it just keeps you guessing to the end. I really liked Yvonne and Aliyah, Yvonne’s personality just jumps off the pages and has a way of laughing and having your heart break at the same time. There is a lot of strong language through out the book. I think what I wasn’t a fan of in this book I found in the beginning that Drue came off very annoying and whiny I thought for someone who was 36 she would no come off as a 20 year old. I got too much sometimes. Overall the storyline was good and I enjoyed it in the end.

Killer Exposure Jessica Patch

Description:

A killer with a secret motive…
A mother with a secret baby

Crime scene photographer Greer Montgomery didn’t expect to witness a murder at a small-town carnival—nor to be rescued by the father of her secret baby. A storm chaser, Locke Gallagher often stares down death, but he’s never known true fear until Greer’s life is at risk. But how can he protect his newly discovered family when the killer could be anyone?

My thoughts on the book:

One thing I can say about this author is she never disappoints. Whenever I pick up one of her books I know I am in for a wild ride. That was very much the case with this book. It has you guessing every which was trying to figure out what’s going to happen next and leaves you guessing to the last possible second. I will say this I think I will never look at another carnival the same way after reading this book…. With out giving anything away there is a moment in the book where two characters have a heart to heart and it really moved me, it felt so personal. I really enjoyed how this author took two very broken characters and made them feel real. I really enjoyed how strong willed and a fighter Greer was but also how vulnerable she could be. I have to say it wasn’t like there was just one hero in this story but a few. This book is a good clean read, grab it you will not be disappointed just be ready to not want to put the book down.

But the sexy know-it-all carpenter that her uncle hired to make some changes, keeps getting in her way. She’ll have to use all her skills just to prove that she’s up to the task.

Parker was hired to bring new life to the old building, but he hadn’t expected sparks to fly from the owner’s niece. As a series of mysterious accidents start to plague the job site, he finds himself working one-on-one with the temptress to avoid losing everything.

My thoughts on the book:

When you have lost everything why not start over, in Pride OR where they take pride in all the do. This book was so fun I thought this book was going to be just your traditional love story only to have the author to add some suspense to it. What I liked about this suspense book it was built up the author didn’t just through it out all at once. I love how with Sara’s family it was just that all about family and town pride and all about being there for each other no matter what. I love how they included others in to make them “family” too. I felt like I was catching up with friends truly, this book is not a group of perfect people but a group of imperfect people who loved each other. There is some adult language, This book to was a quick read and oh so good.

Never Let Go Elizabeth Goddard- Uncommon Justice #1

Description:

As a forensic genealogist, Willow Anderson is following in her late grandfather’s footsteps in her quest for answers about a baby abducted from the hospital more than twenty years ago. The case may be cold, but things are about to heat up when someone makes an attempt on her life to keep her from discovering the truth.

Ex-FBI agent–and Willow’s ex-flame–Austin McKade readily offers his help to protect the woman he never should have let get away. Together they’ll follow where the clues lead them, even if it means Austin must face the past he’s spent much of his life trying to forget. And even if it puts Willow’s tender heart at risk.

In this fast-paced and emotional page-turner, bestselling author Elizabeth Goddard keeps the stakes high, the romantic tension sparking, and the outcome uncertain until the very end.

My thoughts on the book:

So, this is the first book I have ever read from this author. I was impressed, the story did not slow down much, and when it did those time were still pretty intense just wondering what was going to happen next. The story line was well written and keeps read wondering who did what. Early on I thought “oh this book is so predictable and I know who done it” in the end I was completely wrong. In the end I wanted a little more about Willow,Austin, Charlie, and Heath and what is next for them, then I realized this was a series so I sure I haven’t heard the last of them. I hope to also hear more of Charile’s story as well. Over all this book was a clean read and suitable for all. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
