Canyon of Deceit Diann Mills

Description:

A rescue team searches for a missing young girl and suspects all is not as it seems in this high-stakes romantic suspense novel from the author of Lethal Standoff and Facing the Enemy.

When wilderness survival expert Therese Palmer receives a frantic phone call from former colleague Professor Rurik Ivanov, she is shocked by the news that his young daughter, Alina, is missing—and that Rurik wants Therese’s help finding her. She’s sure Rurik hasn’t given her the whole story . . . especially since he refuses to report the kidnapping to the police. Yet with a child’s life hanging in the balance, Therese can’t turn down this mission. She knows the clock is ticking and she can’t do this alone.

Therese reaches out to Texas Ranger Blane Gardner, whom she met seven months ago during one of her training courses in wilderness survival skills. Blane’s specialized training and background with the Crisis Negotiation Unit make him uniquely prepared for this search-and-rescue mission. He agrees to help Therese and to accept Rurik’s terms to keep Alina’s disappearance quiet, and as the two begin working together, Therese is determined the spark growing between them won’t distract from their mission to save Alina.

Traversing deep into the desert of Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Alina’s last known location, Therese and Blane struggle to separate truth from lies within the mix of intel they’re receiving. As they close in on answers that suggest the involvement of Russian organized crime and a high-profile international assassination attempt, they must fight to rescue Alina before she becomes an innocent casualty of a much bigger plot—no matter the risk to their own lives.

My Review:

I am never disappointed when I get one of this authors book so I was excited when I grabbed this one. As always its one of book that start strong and I really struggled to put it down it just kept drawing me in. I really liked Blane he was a no non-sense kind of guy who tried to keep things as honest as possible no matter what. I really liked Therese she truly was a fighter, she didn’t let anyone push her around. She wasn’t in law enforcement but would stop at nothing to help find a child who needed to be found. Overall I like that this author keeps you drawn in till the very end, the author also kept this a clean read. Well worth the read.

My Review:

All I have to say is I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!! I never read the descriptions on book and just grab them on the cover and did the same with this book. From early on in the book I swear I had it figured out but the author did have me second guessing all the way through. I love this series and this group of friends and this book did not disappoint at all. I loved Kristine and my heart truly broke for her with some of the things she faced but she was a fighter and had the biggest heart and was always going above and beyond for those close to her. Andrew faced a few things that seems to break his spirit but he just kept going and doing the best for his friends, family and his country. He was also an amazing character to read about. I truly feel like I am catching up with friends when I read this series they are an amazing group of friends and I truly can’t wait for more from them. Just be prepared to read this is one sitting because you will not want to put it down.

But they’re not alone at the lodge. Someone doesn’t want Remi to remember what happened–and they will stop at nothing to see her dead.

“Elizabeth Goddard’s Storm Warning is perfectly named. This book takes readers by storm as her characters face danger not only from outside forces but also from the deadly secrets that rage inside their souls. Secrets that could cost them . . . everything. Highly recommended.”–Nancy Mehl, author of the Ryland and St. Clair series

My Review:

This book did not disappoint. I could not put this book down and was up till wee hours trying to finish it because it was just that good. The author hints here and there throughout the book on who the bad  guy is to keep you guessing, One minute you think you have it all figured out and then the next you are wondering who it could be. I really liked Remi while she was dealt a rough situation she handled it with the best head on her shoulders and not wanted to get those close to her hurt. Hawk was a man of mystery he try to keep things close to the vest but also trusted those who he thought had his best interest at heart. They both sought answers to things going south in their lives and hoped to each help each other find those answers. This book will keep you going and was well worth the read.

Serial Burn Lynette Eason

Description:

She’s out for justice. But the arsonist she’s tracking is out for retribution.

Now the fire marshal of Lake City, Jesslyn McCormick is determined to find the person who started the fire that robbed her of her family when she was just seven years old. As the twentieth anniversary of the tragedy approaches, a string of fires–including at Jesslyn’s church–brings up all those old feelings and offers new evidence.

Because church fires are considered a hate crime, FBI Special Agent Nathan Carlisle is called in to work with local law enforcement. Nathan has his own past–one he’d prefer not to revisit. And focusing on helping Jesslyn track down the arsonist is a great distraction.

As both the case and the chemistry between Jesslyn and Nathan heat up, memories will come flooding in from the past to bump up against hopes for the future. And when Jesslyn comes face-to-face with her worst nightmare, she’ll have to confront her fears and rely on Nathan and her community of friends in order to survive.

Praise for the Lake City Heroes Series

My Review:

I really could not put this book down. This book did not disappoint at all and the whole book I sweat I thought I had it all figured out it could only be the person I guessed right, Wrong. The author keeps you guessing and then when we finally revels I am like no way I did not see that coming!!! I liked how the author did not finish the book on a cliff hanger or leave you trying to figure out what happens :”next”. I really like Jesslyn and her friends they all had each others backs and when one was faced with something everyone would rally around and help out anyway they can. I liked Nathan he really faced some really tough situations and he didn’t let that hold him back trying to help those out and trying to heal. There was a situation between Nathan and his brother Eli, while I have see other authors try and approach this subject lightly this author took it head and did not sugar coat it. Its something people deal with all the time and it was nice to see her address it from a christian aspect with out a whole lot of judgement coming off the pages. Overall I would recommend this book to just about any one there are tough topics but it will keep you on the edge of your seat and its well worth the read.

Second Chance Season Emily March

Description:

From a New York Times bestselling author, a heartwarming story about secrets, sisters, and the enduring power of family ties.

Zoey Hillcrest thought the hard part was over once she and her fiancé, Cooper, settled on a venue for their destination wedding. But as the date approaches, Zoey faces professional burnout, her estranged mother’s terminal illness, and a worrisome distance from her fiancé. When presented with a excuse to return to Colorado, she flees to the peaceful lakeside hotel to figure out what she truly wants in life.

After all the hard work Genevieve Prentice and her sister Helen McDaniel put into renovating their rustic waterfront lodge, the two finally have time to take a breath and celebrate the lives they’ve built in Lake in the Clouds, Colorado. Then a chance run-in with their latest bride turns their lives upside down.

Helen has never laid eyes on Zoey before, but something about her feels familiar. And when the three women uncover a devastating family secret, they must make peace with the past in order to fully embrace what the future has to offer.

My Review:

I was so excited to be able to grab this book and catch up with the sister and their family, and the author did not disappoint with this story. So for me I do not read the description of most books before I read them so I  did not know what to expect and I was so glad with this book. The author did amazing job and getting to all the feelings and keep you sucked in with this story. I could not put this book down. I truly felt I was catching up with friends and not reading a story. The characters were so relatable. Gage took crap from no one and had me chuckle because you never know what he was going to say or do next. Cooper and Adam both loved Zoey so fiercely and protectively only wanting what was best for her. I truly can keep going on all the things I loved about this book but I really don’t want to ruin the fun for you when you read it. Overall this book did not disappoint and the author kept it a clean read.

My Review:

I really liked this book I love reading stories from the Bramble house. I feels like the Bramble house is a haven for those seeking refuge from their everyday life. I loved how the author follows a few characters more then the average two most books do but makes it flow so you don’t feel like you are going to get loss and not keep up. I loved Mackenzie she was faced with a hard situation while she was stubborn and didn’t want to do what was best she found a way that worked for her. I liked Craig he knew what he wanted and spoke his mind all the whiling dealing with hurt like so many of us. I loved how each one of these characters all felt relatable and all felt like your average day friends. My Review:

What a way to end a series, I have really enjoyed this series so far so I was excited to get my hands on this final book. Jade she took nothing from no one she was a fighter and had no problem going toe to toe with anyone including Crispin. Crispin was beaten to an inch of death throughout this series but kept bouncing back to bring justice to those who sought out to do harm to the country he loved, the people he loved and those who he didn’t even know but wanted to protect. I feel like with Jade, Crispin met his match and there was no way he would get away with anything he had in the past. This book was so relatable making it a little tough to read, however it was a really good book. I really liked Allie she was so standoffish in the beginning I really wasn’t sure what I was going to think but to what her grown and become someone amazing was so fun. Dakota he did not hold back and I loved how his friend on the fire crew put him in his place a time or too as well. I really like Ethan and Nolan those boys saw a lot but were fighters and would not stop at anything to protect their mom. I really hope to learn more about there story and hope this was not the end. I love stories that are based in Alaska this author always has a way of making you feel like you are right there and can visually see what’s the characters see. I really liked Ivy she was a fighter and set aside her own wants for those who needed her more. I liked Nolan as well to me though because of his job and things he as seen and faced he seemed very reserved however he wanted and fought for what was right. This author never disappoints. She states this book off so causal a small thing her a small thing there then BAM!! She states to sprinkle in some suspense and wondering where she wis going and who did what. This book will keep you wondering who’s is involved and who is just making mistakes that are just coincidence. I thought I had the person causing all the problems figured out and boy was I wrong. I love that, I love seeing what will happen next. I really liked Emily she was someone who faced a lot from a young age and fought hard to get where she is all while trying to figure out where she belongs.
