Starfish Pier Irene Hannon

Description:

A year ago, ex-Delta Force operator Steven Roark left the rigors of combat behind to run fishing charters in Hope Harbor, decompress, and talk some sense into his kid brother. Business is good–but making peace with his past is more challenging than he expected.

First-grade teacher Holly Miller leads a quiet, low-profile existence–until she’s recruited to advocate for a cause that’s dear to her heart. When she solicits Steven’s assistance, sparks fly–especially after they find themselves on opposite sides of an issue that disrupts their placid seaside community.

As these two seemingly incompatible souls search for common ground, might they discover a deeper connection–and find that love can banish darkness and light the way to a future filled with promise?

Bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon invites you back to Hope Harbor–where hearts heal . . . and love blooms.

My thoughts on the book:

I would say this book does discuss some very tough issues. The author had a way of getting to the heart of the matter that’s for sure. I did feel like the book dragged some. I like Steven why he faced his own demons he had a big heart of wanting to help those around him. As in all Hope Harbor book Charley, Gladys and Floyd make appearances through out and I always love them they have a way of  adding a good laugh to the story, but Charley has away of knowing just what to say when it needs to be said and giving the guidance and wisdom. I had mix feeling on Holly but in the end she grew on me. Over all this is a good clean read and may be suitable to all. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion

Perfect Distraction Allison Ashley

Description:

Lauren Taylor isn’t thinking about love, especially not with the impossibly attractive man she accidentally spilled coffee all over. He’s out of her league and she’s focused on finishing her oncology pharmacy residency. She’s sworn off men who are too handsome for their own good, anyway.

Andrew Bishop can’t stop thinking about the gorgeous redhead who crashed into him and then disappeared, even though he should have way more on his mind – like dealing with his Hodgkin Lymphoma diagnosis and finishing out his last year in law school. When Andrew and Lauren run into each other at the cancer center where she’s working and he’s being treated, they try to keep it professional. They can be friends, and nothing more.

But sometimes life has other plans…

My thoughts on the book:

This book was so good and super cute. It was also hard a little too, the reason I say that is because the main character has cancer and it deals with the journey through that the author held nothing back while telling this story. But one thing was clear through out life is precious and you don’t want to take it for granted. Why this story is fiction it felt like it was very much real. I love Jeni and I hope she gets her own story she was one sister I think we all wish we had. I loved Lauren and her big heart. This book was full of puns so you are guaranteed to laugh regardless. There are a few curse words but overall this is a clean read. So worth the read.
