My Review:

This author never disappoints. She states this book off so causal a small thing her a small thing there then BAM!! She states to sprinkle in some suspense and wondering where she wis going and who did what. This book will keep you wondering who’s is involved and who is just making mistakes that are just coincidence. I thought I had the person causing all the problems figured out and boy was I wrong. I love that, I love seeing what will happen next. I really liked Emily she was someone who faced a lot from a young age and fought hard to get where she is all while trying to figure out where she belongs. She and Spencer have the biggest hearts for those close to them and those they come in contact with. Overall this was a fun read and worth it.

Elias grudgingly agrees to co-chair the high school’s reunion committee, but when Jazz Weaver blows into town, suddenly anything seems possible.

These high school sweethearts have lived half their lives apart. Can they reinvent themselves back in the town where it all began?

My Review:

I liked this book it was pretty good. I liked that the author took a subject I am sick of reading about (politics) and threw a twist to it. I liked Eli while he was still in his grief, you saw him work on himself and through some of the grief and really grow. I first was not a fan of Jazz I found her whiney, but she did some growing up and just let herself shine in everything she did. She was goal driven, super independent she was not going to let anything stand in her way from achieving her dreams. This book does have adult content in it so it may not be suitable for all readers. Overall this book was a fun read and I really enjoyed this group of friends and family.

Things get so bad that Vic loses his job and their marriage is coming apart. Eleanor is desperate to help her husband and writes letters to her friend, Doretta, living in Indiana for advice. The trust Eleanor places in her friend and the gentle words she receives in return are a balm for even darker days to come in this first book of The Friendship Letters series by New York Times Bestselling Author Wanda E. Brunstetter.

My Review:

Sometimes tragedy puts us in a dark place and the “Why’s” always feel so unanswered. Addiction does not discriminate again anyone either, and that was very much the case in this book as Vic faced alcoholism as a copy mechanism and it seemed things just continued to spiral out of control from there. I found Eleanor strong and a fighter she has such a big heart but also is not afraid to ask for help when she is push. I adored Susie she loved Eleanor like one of her own she also was not one to mince words she truly was a fun charactered to read. I this book Eleanor’s best friends, her parents, and Vic’s parents all told a small portion of the story sometimes I feel like this can be confusing however the author did an amazing job at keeping things flowing and making things make sense and the story just kept flowing. Overall this book was a really good read, even with a tough topic it was really well written and worth the read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Honor Bound Hallee Bridgeman

Description:

It may seem odd to seek peace by moving to a war-torn African country, but for medical missionary Dr. Cynthia Myers, it provided a way to escape a shallow life of unearned wealth, a philandering fiancé, and a father now square in the public eye as vice president of the United States. At least here she knows her work and life have meaning. But all that is thrown into chaos when she fails to save the life of a local warlord’s mortally wounded son.

As part of the Army Special Forces “A-Team” on a mission to capture and subdue the warlord, Captain Rick Norton is compelled to use deadly force to save Cynthia’s life. Enraged at the violence she witnessed and riddled with guilt that men died because of her, Cynthia tries to hold on to her anger–but an unwanted attraction is taking hold.

With two members of his team badly injured and rebels in hot pursuit, Rick will have to draw upon all his strength and cunning to get her out alive . . . because he’s beginning to think they just might overcome their differences and be able to make a life together.

My Review:

This is a new to me author and I was not disappointed. This book will have you on the edge of your seat one minute to watching the characters try and find healing. The first half of this book will have you on the edge of your seat why the second portion of the book slows things down a little and has you on another journey with the characters. I want so much more of Ozzy’s story I feel like that story is going to be gut wrenching. I liked Rick a lot he was a strong character with determination for his friends and his country. He did not have a hero complex but stayed humble while doing what he loved. I liked Cynthia, in the beginning she felt like she needed to grow up a little bit but she too had a heart for those less fortunate and worked hard to become a better person while making the world a better place. Over all the author kept this book a clean read and it was well worth it. Can’t wait to read more about these characters.

Bestselling and award-winning author Lynette Eason is back with another high-octane tale of close calls, narrow escapes, and the fight to bring a nefarious criminal to justice.

My Review:
I could not put down this book. So when the first book started the author went one way and I was kind of taken back at first being that fact that I wasn’t sure where this book was going to take me. Then the author throws in a twist and sucked me right back in. I could not put down this book even tried talking to my non reader husband on date night about it. Just one of those stories that sticks with you. I really liked Penny and her close knit group of friends, it just seemed like not matter what one was going through they all were there for each other. I liked Holt oh man that guy had me yelling at him a few times but overall he was a good guy seeking out to do what was right for the world and his family. I am telling you if you are looking for a book that puts you on the edge of your seat, with twist and turns and keeps you guessing then you will not be disappointed by this book. This book is very much worth the read

Description:

For Libby Beckett, opening her charming yarn shop, and introducing customers to the joys of knitting and crochet, is the work she was meant to do.  Until the yarn she loves is used for murder….

Libby has come home to Collinstown, Maryland to live her dream and open her own yarn shop, aptly named Y.A.R.N., along the Chester River. To Libby, Y.A.R.N. stands for “You’re Absolutely Ready Now.” But the acronym changes whenever inspiration strikes, and customers add to the list of suggestions that fill the blackboard wall in a shop stuffed with color, fiber, and comfort.

Libby is thrilled when she lands famous Norwegian knitting celebrity Perle Langager for a series of events  at Y.A.R.N. Libby’s English bulldog, Hank, has been modeling one of Perle’s doggie sweaters, and customers just can’t wait to see Perle in action. The mayor of Collinstown even decrees a Collinstown Yarn Day to celebrate. But once Perle arrives in town, she seems distracted and on edge.  And when she’s found strangled with a skein of red yarn, Libby knows she has to solve a knotty mystery before her new life unravels.

My Review:
This book was not for me. I had a hard time just getting into the book over all. The author does a play off of all things yarn in the book including a teenager and a group of “old” ladies set to have fun with yarn and trees. The book is told in a first person telling. I liked Gavin he seemed to face a lot and was always looking out for Libby. Libby was store owner turned detective which made things very interesting. The author did keep the book a clean read. I guess in the end I expected a different ending but over all the story was ok. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Join bestselling and award-winning author Elizabeth Goddard as she plunges you into a web of deceit made of hidden crimes, open threats, and long-buried family secrets in this gripping first book of an explosive new series.

My thoughts on the book:

This author did not disappoint. I mean this book keeps you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. In books like this I like to guess right off the bat who did it, but in book the author keeps you guessing, just when you think you have it all figured out she throws a curveball. I really liked Terra. She was a fighter and she dealt with loss, but seemed like she was willing to keep fighting for what was right. Jack was a bit of a mystery for me at first but I liked him to he just had some healing he need to find in the middle of a murder investigation. I could not put this book down, have me up late and I don’t regret it one bit. This book is a clean read and well worth every bit. I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next in this series. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A Perfect Amish Romance Shelley Shepard Gray

5 out of 5 stars

  Description:

From New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray comes a new series that follows a bookmobile driver-turned-matchmaker who learns that her Amish patrons need a whole lot more than just new books to read.

Aaron Coblentz has a secret: he’s been studying to take the GED to get promoted at work. But he can’t let his Amish family know, not when his older brother already left the faith just a year after getting baptized, practically crippling the family. When Aaron asks bookmobile librarian Sarah Anne Miller for some additional study guides, she does one better. She arranges for Kayla Kaufman to be his tutor.

Kayla has a secret, too. Her life has been turned upside down in a matter of months—her mother’s death propelled her father into a constant state of depression, and unable to deal with his erratic behavior, her longtime boyfriend has broken things off. But despite losing those she holds most dear, she hasn’t completely given up on love. Only now she seeks to find it in the sweet romance novels she secretly checks out from Sarah Anne’s bookmobile.

As Aaron and Kayla’s study sessions start to feel less like work and more like pleasure, they soon realize that happily ever afters don’t only happen in fiction; sometimes they happen when you least expect it.

From a “skilled storyteller who reminds the reader that faith can help us survive the ups and downs in life” (RT Book Reviews), A Perfect Amish Romance is a moving and deftly told story that paints a heartwarming picture of the magic of true love.

My thoughts on the book:

I really liked this book, I felt like the book was more geared towards a younger reader (teenagers), however I feel like as an adult reader it was still a very fun read. I liked Kayla she was very independent and very strong willed willing to keep fighting now matter what she faced. Aaron he came off kind of immature at first but I felt like the more you read he seems to grow up a lot. Joel and Tiny was fun to read about as well and you can tell they were both immature but looking to grow up as well. I LOVED Sarah she was hands down my favorite she has a heart for everyone that comes into her life weather big or small, long or short. She truly felt like an angel/grandmother to so many in this book while trying to find more about her self. I really don’t think I can say anything negative about this book over all it was just a really good read and draws you in and you want to find out what is going to happen next. This is a good clean read as well.

A Cowboy for Keeps Jody Hedlund

3 out of 5 stars for me

 Description:

Greta Nilsson’s trip west to save her ailing little sister, Astrid, could not have gone more wrong. First, bandits hold up her stagecoach, stealing all her money. Then, upon arriving in Fairplay, Colorado, she learns the man she was betrothed to as a mail-order bride has died. Homeless, penniless, and jobless, Greta and her sister are worse off than when they started.

Wyatt McQuaid is struggling to get his new ranch up and running and is in town to purchase cattle when the mayor proposes the most unlikely of bargains. He’ll invest in a herd of cattle for Wyatt’s ranch if Wyatt agrees to help the town become more respectable by marrying and starting a family. And the mayor, who has promised to try to help Greta, has just the candidate in mind for Wyatt to marry.

My thoughts on the book:

This book is set in the 1800’s, and is more of a western romance style book. The storyline was cute overall. I did like Astrid, she was a pistol and being a handful summed her up for sure. I really liked Judd, he was a silent type but when he spoke it was with wisdom and you took notice. The book was a clean read overall. I do feel like the book did drag some so I had a hard time keeping my attention. I felt like something was missing in a sense but if you are looking for a clean read that’s a mail order bride on her journey to find a better place for her sister, then this book might be for you. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Harrison Ranch and Macgregor’s Mail Order Bride Susan Payne

  Description:

Harrison Ranch –
Callie St. Michaels, an orphan from New York, felt her only hope for the future was to leave her sous chef position in St Louis. Finding a job as cook for a group of ranch hands in Sweetwater, Kansas, seemed both prophetic and serendipitous. Everyone is happy with the outcome except for one man – Seth Harrison, the owner of the ranch and Callie’s employer.
Seth isn’t sure why, but he feels uncomfortable around the young woman his attorney hired as the ranch hands’ cook. She hasn’t said anything improper, or is unable to do the work required, or is off-putting in any manner. In fact, she is well liked by all the other employees. So why does he get so unsettled around her?

Macgregor Brother’s Mail Order Bride –
Mac, the oldest of the Macgregor family finds himself in need of a wife. His younger brothers have graduated university and at thirty-three he feels it time to marry and raise his own children on his ranch outside Sweetwater, Kansas. Answering the ad from a mail-order-bride, he is prepared for anything the young widow brings to the table.
Mavis Miller is frightened of the large man meant to be her husband. Her friend, Emily Johnston, tries to help the couple find a balance. Although Mavis tries to meet the man half-way, she can’t get over feeling their relationship is doomed. Especially when stronger desires pull her in another direction leaving Emily to tell Mac there won’t be a wedding.
His response? “Somebody owes me a wife!”

My thoughts on the book:

There is two separate stories in this book. The first one was ok. I loved Sully and Jamie they both had the biggest hearts and would do just about anything for anyone. I like Callie she was fierce and took chance and was super independent. I was not a fan of Seth he came off like a jerk and arrogant and he didn’t seem to truly care for Callie he just didn’t want anyone else to have her. In book two I felt like there was too much going on and in the beginning and it was hard to figure out who was the person talking and who was what. This story was very predictable. You do follow four people, you have Jamie, Mac, Mavis and Emily. I did like Emily she was a pretty strong headed person and would do anything for those she loved and cared for. I felt like with Mac he was more of a “caveman” type guy and I seem to roll my eyes with him then anything. Jamie was fun but immature. Over all both stories were ok. Both stories did have sexual content in them so it may not be suitable for all readers. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
