Second Chance Season Emily March

Description:

From a New York Times bestselling author, a heartwarming story about secrets, sisters, and the enduring power of family ties.

Zoey Hillcrest thought the hard part was over once she and her fiancé, Cooper, settled on a venue for their destination wedding. But as the date approaches, Zoey faces professional burnout, her estranged mother’s terminal illness, and a worrisome distance from her fiancé. When presented with a excuse to return to Colorado, she flees to the peaceful lakeside hotel to figure out what she truly wants in life.

After all the hard work Genevieve Prentice and her sister Helen McDaniel put into renovating their rustic waterfront lodge, the two finally have time to take a breath and celebrate the lives they’ve built in Lake in the Clouds, Colorado. Then a chance run-in with their latest bride turns their lives upside down.

Helen has never laid eyes on Zoey before, but something about her feels familiar. And when the three women uncover a devastating family secret, they must make peace with the past in order to fully embrace what the future has to offer.

My Review:

I was so excited to be able to grab this book and catch up with the sister and their family, and the author did not disappoint with this story. So for me I do not read the description of most books before I read them so I  did not know what to expect and I was so glad with this book. The author did amazing job and getting to all the feelings and keep you sucked in with this story. I could not put this book down. I truly felt I was catching up with friends and not reading a story. The characters were so relatable. Gage took crap from no one and had me chuckle because you never know what he was going to say or do next. Cooper and Adam both loved Zoey so fiercely and protectively only wanting what was best for her. I truly can keep going on all the things I loved about this book but I really don’t want to ruin the fun for you when you read it. Overall this book did not disappoint and the author kept it a clean read.

Only a Cowboy Will Do AJ Pine

4 out of 5 stars

Description:

A small-town woman is swept off her feet by a caring stranger in this charming western romance from a “fabulous storyteller” (Carolyn Brown, New York Times bestselling author).

Forty candles, and one for luck. Jenna Owens wants one thing for her birthday this year: a fairy-tale ending of her own and a little relaxation at a quaint California ranch. What she didn’t want was to get caught in a storm on her way to Meadow Valley. Or to get stuck with a ridiculously hot, too-charming-for-his-own-good cowboy—one who makes Jenna reconsider her “I don’t date younger guys” rule. But a little vacation flirtation might be just what she needs.

Colt Morgan isn’t interested in long-term relationships. Not since his last one crashed and burned after his fiancée found out he wanted a big family. So when he learns that Jenna has a list of items to accomplish on her trip—including having fling—Colt is all too happy to oblige. Yet the more he and Jenna get to know each other, the more Colt starts to wonder if maybe they have a chance at a real future. But when Jenna’s past upends everything Colt thought he wanted, are all bets off? Or will they find a way to make both their dreams come true?

Includes the bonus novella Sealed with a Kiss by Melinda Curtis!

My Review:
So the storyline was cute. If you can relate in any kind of loss or
infertility then this will also be a little emotional as well. Overall it was a cute story, two broken people searching for their place to belong in this world. However I did feel that Colt had this constant guard up throughout the whole book and that the author almost seemed too hard to play it down. In some parts I just found it annoying. If I am to be honest I guess that was the case for Jenna as well but she seemed more free spirit and open then he did, she more or less wore her heart on her sleeve, which made her more relatable. There is sexual content throughout so it may not be suitable for all readers. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Roommate Problem Mariah Ankenman

Description:

To Moira “Mo” Rossi, the world is full of sunshine, goodness, and happily ever afters—so of course she figures finding the perfect roomie will be easy. But after four creepos who ask if benefits come with the room and one woman who claims she’s a vampire, Mo is officially desperate. So what if the guy she agrees to on paper ends up being the Derrick Downer to her Sally Sunshine in person? She’s the queen of making lemonade.

August Porter expected his new roommate Mo to be like him—neat, practical, and oh yeah: male. Not the outrageous hippie with more stars in her eyes than there are in the sky. She’s infuriating, exasperating, his exact opposite in every possible way…and the bright ray of sunshine he didn’t even realize his gray world was missing. Suddenly, falling into bed with his roommate isn’t the worst idea he’s ever heard. Just falling in love with her is.

But one of them is keeping a secret that could turn their opposite attraction into utter disaster.

My thoughts on the book:

This book should have been named pineapple pizza and protein shakes!!! If you want to know why read the book you will quickly understand . At first I liked August but he quickly got on my nerves he came across whiny and I was so over him and felt that Mo could do better. Mo is hands down someone who was easy to love social butterfly comes to mind immediately and she’s just a bright spot in everyone’s life who she encounters. She was so fun to read about I swear I could see her as a friend if she wasn’t fictional, she totally made this book. This book does have curse words and adult situations so may not be suitable for all readers. Over all fun read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.”

The Goodbye Guy Natasha Moore

Description:

Rachel Bradford is finally living her dream as the star of her own interior design show. But ratings are slipping, and if she wants to save the show, she has to set an episode in the hometown she fled. Worst of all, she’s going to have to work with the cocky bad boy who humiliated her.

Single dad, Beckett Colburn plans to turn an old fire station into a neighborhood bar. He’s blindsided when he discovers his family made a deal to turn his dream into a reality TV project. He’d rather run into a burning building than work with his childhood nemesis–on camera.

But it’s not easy with a TV crew in town stirring up trouble, spreading rumors, creating buzz. Not to mention the inconvenient sudden attraction that sparks every time Rachel and Beckett fight.

My thoughts on the book:

I have never read anything by this author, so this is a new series for me. I don’t know what I missed but the others where brought up in this book. I can honestly say I was not really a huge fan of this book it just wasn’t for me. I found the book completely predictable not a whole lot of what’s going to happen next. I like Holly she was a spit fire and did add a whole other element to the story, she was one of my favorite characters in the book. I also liked Davis he seem to be one of the few in the story that had his head on his shoulders and was a good friend to Beckett. I did not like Beckett I found him for a 40 year old very immature and whiny, I guess for me I felt like if you have a child at some point you should have grown up. Rachel was ok she too seem to have problems with her past but she didn’t come off as immature. Overall I really wasn’t a fan of this book. There is adult language and content may not be suitable for all. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.”

A Cowboy’s Song by Megan Ryder

Description:

Can they build a future on a shaky foundation?

Tyler “Ty” lost everything in a car accident when he was twelve, retreating into his shell so tightly that it took months for him to come out again. Music and the ranch saved him, and he will always be grateful to his foster family for saving his life. Now, with the ranch on financial tenterhooks, he wonders if he can use his music to contribute to the solution.

Piper Raines is the daughter of a legendary country music family. While her parents and brother are all famous, her attempt at an independent career went off the rails, and, with exhaustion and stress and bad press dogging her every step, she needs a place to recover. When Piper is invited to vacation at the ranch, Piper and Ty connect through horses and music. After a video duet of Piper and Ty goes viral, they’re invited to sing in Nashville, which also provides added pressure, stressing their new relationship.

My thoughts on the book:

When I started this book my first thought was please let it be good. Then I realize the brothers were back and knew it was going to be good and they were up to no good again. I loved catching up with Chase, Hailey, West and Tara. Ty is a broken souls looking for healing in his own way and the author did not disappoint as your taken on the journey to find himself. Oh Piper is a spit fire for sure with lots of sass but a down home girl all the same. Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was a fun read with lots of wonderful characters and I am so glad to catch up with them. I hope there is more to come from these fun characters. There is sex and cussing in this book so may not be suitable for all. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.”
